Hi, I’m Sydney Harvey.
I’m an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Certified Myofunctional Therapist, birth doula, and registered dental hygienist with more than 20 years of experience supporting families through pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and childhood development.
My passion is caring for families during every stage of their journey—from preparing for birth to navigating the early days of feeding and beyond. I believe that when we support oral function, feeding, breathing, and development together, we can make a lasting impact on a child’s health and a family’s confidence.
As a birth doula, I provide compassionate, continuous support throughout pregnancy, labor, and the immediate postpartum period. Whether you’re planning an unmedicated birth, epidural, VBAC, or cesarean birth, my role is to help you feel informed, empowered, and supported while working alongside your healthcare team. Every birth is unique, and I consider it an honor to walk beside families during one of life’s most meaningful experiences.
After birth, my focus shifts to helping families establish feeding in a way that feels successful and sustainable. I offer in-home lactation consultations throughout the Charleston area because I believe parents and babies learn best where they are most comfortable. Together, we’ll work through breastfeeding challenges, bottle feeding, pumping, tongue tie concerns, nipple pain, low milk supply, oversupply, or simply answer the many questions that come with caring for a new baby.
My background as a dental hygienist naturally led me to myofunctional therapy, where I help children and adults improve tongue posture, nasal breathing, oral habits, and overall oral function. I enjoy collaborating with pediatricians, dentists, orthodontists, ENTs, speech-language pathologists, bodyworkers, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive, whole-person care.
As both a healthcare professional and a mom, I understand that every family has different goals and every journey looks a little different. My approach is warm, evidence-based, and personalized. I take the time to listen, educate, and create a plan that fits your family’s needs—not a one-size-fits-all solution.
Whether you’re preparing to welcome your baby, looking for support during labor, working through breastfeeding challenges, or seeking answers about your child’s oral function and development, I’m here to help.
My hope is that you’ll leave every visit feeling heard, supported, and empowered with the knowledge and confidence to move forward.
I look forward to being part of your family’s journey.
